Return policy questions
The same questions we answer on the Return Policy, in the same order.
From delivery, not from your purchase or order date. The clock starts the day the freight carrier delivers your cart, as recorded by the carrier’s tracking event. You have 30 full calendar days from that delivery date to request a return. The same window applies to new, used and refurbished carts. Orders that have not yet been delivered can be cancelled at no charge at any time before the cart ships. If you have already paid, that amount is refunded in full.
Email sales@ergongolfcarts.co.za with your order number, the reason for the return, and photos if the cart arrived damaged or incorrect. You can also call +27 84 270 7214 (Mon-Sat, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM SAST). We reply within 1 business day and issue a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number along with the return freight address and instructions. Do not send a cart back without an RMA number; freight arriving without one may be refused at our dock.
The golf cart must not have been driven, registered or licensed for road use, and must not have been modified or fitted with parts it did not ship with. Switching it on at delivery to check for damage does not, by itself, end your right to return it. It must be complete with every accessory it shipped with (charger, keys, remotes, manuals, warranty documents and any factory-fitted accessories) and returned in its original crate or on its original freight pallet, or in an equivalent crate providing the same protection. Carts that have been driven, registered, modified, or are missing parts are not eligible for a standard return; see Section 8 and Section 9 below for damaged or wrong-item exceptions, which are not affected by this requirement.
For a used or refurbished cart, condition is judged against the listing and the condition at delivery. Wear, battery age or usage already disclosed on the listing is not a defect. The cart must still not have been driven or altered after delivery, and it must come back with everything it shipped with.
If you are returning a cart because you changed your mind, ordered the wrong model, or no longer need it, you pay the return freight, and the original outbound freight charge is not refunded. If the return is because we shipped the wrong item, the cart arrived damaged or defective, or the cart does not match its listed specifications, we pay return freight in full and refund 100% of what you paid, including the original freight charge.
Original outbound freight is refunded only when the return is our error (wrong item shipped) or a covered defect. If you are returning a correctly shipped, undamaged cart for a reason of your own (fitment mistake, change of mind), the original freight charge is non-refundable and you are responsible for return freight.
Customer-initiated returns of undamaged, correctly shipped carts carry a 12% restocking fee, deducted from your refund, to cover inspection, a full pre-delivery re-test, and relisting. There is no restocking fee, and no charge to you at all, when the return is due to our error or a covered defect.
We inspect every returned cart as soon as it arrives at our facility, which typically takes 2-4 business days depending on freight transit time. Once inspection confirms the cart meets the condition requirements above, we issue your refund within 10 days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the order. If that method is no longer available, we issue a bank transfer or cheque to the name on the order instead. Bank posting times after we issue the refund typically add 2-7 business days, depending on your bank.
The same timing is set out on our Refunds Policy.
Do not refuse the shipment. Accept the delivery, note any visible damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt before the driver leaves, and photograph the crate and the damage. Email us at sales@ergongolfcarts.co.za within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos. We handle the freight damage claim directly with the carrier at no cost or effort to you, and we will repair, replace, or fully refund the cart, including all shipping charges, at your choice.
Email sales@ergongolfcarts.co.za with your order number and a photo of the cart’s serial plate, tag or label within 7 days of delivery. We will arrange prepaid return freight immediately and ship the correct cart as soon as you confirm the incorrect unit is ready for collection (we do not require you to wait for the wrong cart to arrive back before we ship the replacement, in most cases). You pay nothing extra: no restocking fee, no return freight cost, and no charge for the replacement shipment.
We do not sell golf carts on a core-exchange basis, and a cart order does not include a core credit. There is no rebuildable core to drain and send back, and no core credit is added to or deducted from your refund. Core returns therefore do not apply to golf cart orders, and they do not affect the standard 30-day return window above. If you are asking about a battery or a parts exchange rather than returning the cart, contact us with your order number and we will tell you whether that item falls under this return window or under warranty.
A return is for a cart you want to send back within 30 days of delivery. A warranty claim is for a cart that fails after it has been put into use, and is covered separately by the 2-year limited warranty on the motor, controller and chassis, plus the manufacturer’s battery warranty, described in our Terms of Service. If a listing states a different warranty, the listing applies. To start a warranty claim, contact us with your order number and a description of the issue; our technicians triage within 2 business days and may request photos, a diagnostic reading, or inspection by a qualified workshop.
